What Happens When No One Has Access

There’s a certain kind of heartbreak that doesn’t just come from loss.It comes from the chaos that follows when no one has the answers.
Recently, a well-known entrepreneur made headlines—not because of a new launch or viral moment—but because her life took a turn that no amount of success could stop.
She had been battling stage IV breast cancer and decided to take a holistic healing journey to Bali. With resources and support that many only dream of, she set out to heal. She shared her experiences openly—her treatments, her routines, her faith.
But within weeks, her health declined.Fast.
While her mother was by her side the entire time, the situation quickly grew more complicated than anyone expected. The hospitals didn’t speak English. Her condition worsened daily. And when she could no longer speak or walk, her mother couldn’t access her accounts. Couldn’t transfer funds. Couldn’t act quickly enough.
She wasn’t well enough to fly home commercially, and securing a medical flight became urgent—but difficult.
Her supporters online rallied with love, prayers, and financial help. But even that couldn’t outpace what was happening inside her body.
Just one day after those calls for help, she passed away.
And I haven’t stopped thinking about her story since.
Because this isn’t rare. This isn’t dramatic. This is real life. And it’s happening to families more often than people realize.
The Wake-Up Call We Don’t Talk About
This woman had everything most people work toward—success, visibility, and options. But the one thing missing was the plan.
The “just in case.” The “if something happens” conversation. The emergency access. The step-by-step instructions her family needed while things were spiraling.
And that’s what stuck with me the most: She thought there’d be more time.
We all do.
But the truth is, when emergencies strike—your family doesn’t need more time.
They need access.
They need clarity.
They need to know what to do, who to call, and how to move forward.
What Preparedness Actually Looks Like
Preparedness isn’t about fear. It’s about love in action.
Here’s what I help my clients walk through every single day:
✔️ Creating an emergency plan for loved ones that covers finances, accounts, and medical decisions
✔️ Knowing how your life insurance works—and making sure your beneficiaries do, too
✔️ Setting up access to key documents and instructions if you’re suddenly unable to speak
✔️ Thinking beyond just funeral plans—like who cares for your kids, your business, your pets
You don’t need to be rich. You don’t need to have everything figured out.
You just need to be willing to start.
Because a Plan Is Louder Than a Platform
Success is beautiful.
Support systems matter.
But at the end of the day, what carries your family through… is the plan you leave behind.
So if you’ve been avoiding the conversation or putting it off because “there’s time"—let this be the moment that shifts your perspective.
Start small.
Start now.
Start with love.
Because when your voice is no longer in the room, the plan is what speaks for you.
